Camping on Maui

One of the most special things about living on Maui is that when you have some time off you have some of the most amazing places on earth to go to. People save up a life time to come here and see some of these places and we can enjoy them on a regular basis. One of our favorite things to do is to go camping at Ohe’o Pools about 10 miles past Hana. It is also sometimes know as the Seven Pools. It is a beautiful drive and Zach, my 9 year old son, and I had a “boys go camping” overnighter. It was a blast and a time off so appreciated. Family is what we do this for and times like this are why it is all worth it. Here are a few shots of our trip.

This beautiful waterfall is a 2 mile hike from the campground. The day before there was almost no water going over the falls. It rained all night and it was flowing with lots of water when we got there.

The bamboo forest is to thick it blocks most of the light.

I want to shoot a bride in her wedding dress on these staris so bad.
I love how the bamboo forest looks from above
This shot was taken with my new 10mm lens. This lens rounds out my collection. I think I am going to like it a lot.
This was taken at Keani. It is the 1/2 way point on the drive to Hana. Another shot with my 10-17mm lens.
This is Zachs favorite shot. Still playing with the 10mm fisheye.
This cave is at the black sand beach near Hana. We went in the Lave Tubes in Hana also and could not seem to get enough of the caves.

FOB

I can not be old enough to be the Father Of The Bride. I know, I am in denial. Here is the link to the wedding of the summer. All the weddings we shoot are special but this one had a special place in my heart because my daughter, Sally was the bride. That is why I was all dressed up in the photo of me in the intro to this blog. It was a great wedding and I hope you enjoy these great shots. Chelsea shot these. Talk about some pressure. Shooting the wedding of the daughter of the boss. Well I think you will agree she did a great job. As she says I taught her everything show knows. Well that might be partly true but she has a great eye and is a very good shooter. Click on orange triancle in the box below the photo to see the slide show.
